Pictures of Past Events

The Zion Luncheon Club has a history dating back to a time before the Zion Chapel was amalgamated with the Broad Street Church. They meet regularly with guest speakers each time.

The picture shows brothers Michael and David Jones when they helped serve lunch as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.

On Tuesday evening 17th August we held a 'Welcome and Farewell' Party when the majority of our congregation met for the first time our new minister Revd Frances Biseker and her husband, Revd Jon Chesworth. It was also the last chance to say our goodbyes to our minister for the last 10 years Revd Deanne Evans.

Well over 100 turned up for this very successful evening.

The colour blue for the cake had a loose connection for Deanne and for Frances.

A mention here would not go amiss for the hard work by the ladies who laid on a magnificent spread. Thanks and congratulations.

The Church Walking Group meets monthly and all enjoy the fellowship of each others company. New members would be welcome.

This particular picture was taken near Clee Hill.

The Ludlow Food Festival is internationally famous and The Ludlow Methodist Church plays its part in as much as we have our own Pudding Tasting Event running at the same time. The 2009 event was a record year for us despite the credit crunch.

In early October, 2009, over 30 of our church members went to Lindors Country House Hotel in the Wye Valley. Lindors is part of the Christian Guild Group offering Christian retreats for peace, reflection and fellowship.

The morning service of 25th October was a celebration of the Methodist Church in The Gambia  which was taken by Rev. Joseph Gomez who came to our circuit just over a year ago. For this service our congregation was encouraged to dress African style.

Christianity arrived in The Gambia with Portugese sailors in 1456 when they landed on James Island. There are now over 120,000 Christians of various denominations. The Methodist Church is one of the earliest churches in Africa and has a history going back to 1821 and began as a mission of the Weslyan Methodist Society. It was the last overseas district of British Methodism until becoming an autonomous Partner Church on Wesley Day 2009. Earlier in the summer Joseph returned to The Gambia for a short time to be part of the celebrations which took place there.

In the childrens class the Ludlow Brownies swept the board with the 2nd Ludlow Bownies taking the first prize, shown top right, and 1st Ludlow Brownies coming second, shown bottom right.  On Saturday 20th March 16 members of our congregation spent a Fellowship Day at Hennor House near Leominster. It was led by Revd Pamala Rush from Church Stretton. Pam gave a thoughtful presentation based on the painting of 'The Prodigal Son' by Rembrandt. We shared lunch together and the day concluded with Holy Communion. It was a quiet peaceful day in beautiful countryside, spent in preparation for Easter.
